In 2010, Sophie Young from Safer Herefordshire, consulted with FDS clients for their views on a proposed carers handbook. Our clients were able to offer advice on what they considered to be useful and helpful information to be included in the handbook, which is aimed at families suffering because of substance misuse.
The ‘Carer Handbook & Directory' will be launched in June and you can reserve your copy by sending a quick E-Mail to support@familydrugsupport.com.

NTA Consultation

The 2010 National Drug Strategy sets out a new ambition for all substance misusers to achieve recovery and ultimately have the chance to lead a drug free life. In order to accomplish this, the National Treatment Agency (NTA) is designing a new service framework which it is envisaged will provide better access to a complete range of services to support people in maintaining their recovery.
FDS clients played their part, by submitting their personal views on the issue of ‘Building Recovery In Communities' (BRIC) for substance misusers, their families and the local community, as part of the NTA's national consultation. The responses are currently been considered and hopefully the results will be known shortly.
